After three or so years of eager anticipation, the Shiba Inu community is abuzz with excitement following the announcement of the official launch date for the highly awaited TREAT token.

According to a Sunday update from the official TREAT X account, the long-anticipated release is set to occur in less than two weeks.

“Mark your calendars, it’s going to be legendary. Just 10 days left until $TREAT takes center stage!” the tweet stated. Notably, this sets the launch date for January 14, 2025, a milestone that has SHIB enthusiasts eagerly counting down the days.

Adding weight to the announcement, Shiba Inu lead developer Shytoshi Kusama retweeted the post, affirming the timeline and fueling the community’s enthusiasm.

Introduced in late 2021, TREAT is poised to redefine the Shiba Inu ecosystem. According to the development team’s December 2 blog post, the token will act as a cornerstone for SHIB’s broader mission of full decentralization. Designed to enhance governance, rewards, and real-world utility, TREAT promises to empower the SHIB Army with cutting-edge blockchain functionalities.

“One of the most transformative aspects of TREAT is its function in an upcoming on-chain payment system that is designed to offer a new era of crypto-powered commerce. Furthermore, the token’s innovative features aim to strengthen the ecosystem’s security while enabling decentralized decision-making on an unprecedented scale. In a recent post on X, Kusama hinted at the far-reaching implications of TREAT for the Shiba Inu ecosystem.

These remarks have sparked speculation that TREAT may play a pivotal role in SHIB’s upcoming Layer-3 blockchain initiative which is aimed at enhancing privacy within its ecosystem.

Meanwhile, the SHIB Army has responded with overwhelming excitement. One community member, known as “Sand,” commented, “When projects are the target of copies and attention from EVERYONE (even from jealous scammers), it’s a sign that what’s being built—Shib, Bone, Leash, now TREAT, SHIBARIUM, the incredible Metaverse—is to prevail. It’s a sign we’re doing things RIGHT.”

However, the Shiba Inu team has urged vigilance as the launch date approaches, warning of potential scams exploiting the TREAT name.

That said, SHIB has shown strong performance following the announcement, trading at $0.00002425 at press time, marking a 2.14% increase over the past 24 hours. Its trading volume has also seen improvement, although it experienced a slight dip of 0.57% to $418 million compared to the previous period.
